We are working with 4 Paws For Ability to bring home a service dog for our 6 year old son, Warren. 4 Paws for Ability is a non-profit organization located in Ohio, that has been around for the past 20 years and is one of the only organizations that have a focus on providing service dogs to children. 4 Paws subsidizes more than half of the cost of a service dog, but we still need to raise $17,000.
Warren lives with his amazing family in the twin cities area of Minnesota. He was also born with a neurodevelopmental disorder that impacts his ability to cope with unfamiliar situations and regulate his body and emotions. Warren is a sensitive, caring boy with boundless energy and a fierce curiosity about nature and the outside world. The progress he has made with the help of therapists and educators continually amazes us, however, it is likely that there will always be areas of life that are harder for Warren because of his “invisible” disability.
As parents we work to do to everything we can so that nothing will stifle his spirit or limit his potential. For this reason we’re hoping to provide him with a specially trained service dog that can be his companion, emotional anchor, and a liaison to the outside world. Adorably, Warren has decided (at least for now) to name his service dog, Mr. Pineapple.
Donations in support of bringing Warren and Mr. Pineapple together should be made directly to 4 Paws for Ability – be sure to write Warren S. on the memo line. Mail checks to:
