Make a Dream Come True

Theresa Neumann

This adorable 12 year old is Theresa Neumann, otherwise known as Tink, Resa, T, or Neums. She is a happy child that loves playing with books, watching nursery rhyme videos on YouTube, and almost all things food (bring her Taco Bell and she’ll love you forever).
Theresa was born with several significant disabilities including seizures, lack of speech, many missed milestones, Celiac’s disease, and Autism. She lacks any awareness of danger and will fall down stairs or walk into the road without hesitation. She even gets distracted when someone is carrying her dinner and has walked into walls face first trying to watch them. She hates disruptions to her schedule, unless you are bringing her food, and can spend days trying to get over them. She had her thyroid removed when she was 7 due to a genetic predisposition to an aggressive form of thyroid cancer.
Despite Theresa’s many medical challenges, she is typically a happy, healthy child. She tends to be rather giggly and easygoing. Even though she doesn’t speak, she can be quite bossy and opinionated. She gets her point across when she wants to.
Her doctors haven’t been able to pinpoint the cause of the seizures she continues to have. She has had literally hundreds of tests from bloodwork to MRIs and EEGs to various genetic testing. They are fairly certain, however, that she is autistic. To that end, we have applied at 4 Paws for a multipurpose service dog. Theresa’s dog will be trained to alert us when she has a seizure, as well as help with her autistic tendencies and be her constant companion, friend, and protector due to her inability to call for help.
It will cost 4 Paws between $40,000-$60,000 to train Theresa’s dog. We are responsible for raising $17,000 to help mitigate that expense. We would be deeply grateful and humbled for any help reaching that goal, whether through a donation or by just spreading the word.
Donations can be made on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/donate/2186619378101388/) or on the 4 Paws website (http://4PawsForAbility.org/donate-now).  Please put Theresa’s name in the description so the donation is credited to her.
Checks, with Theresa’s name in the memo section, can also be mailed directly to 4 Paws:
