Dreamer Clarissa Ferry

Clarissa is 19 years old and has a genetic condition called Dravet Syndrome. Dravet Syndrome is a severe form of epilepsy. In addition to seizures, individuals with Dravet often have weak immune systems, frequent respiratory infections, scoliosis and other orthopedic issues, cognitive and behavioral issues, autistic characteristics, low muscle tone, sensory integration problems, speech and language difficulties, and problems with the autonomic nervous system (controlling body temperature and other items). We believe a service dog will help Clarissa through seizure response, mobility assistance and autism assistance.

Clarissa faces many challenges, and she is one of the strongest, bravest people I have ever met. She pushes forward and finds fun every day. She loves animals, music, jewelry and makeup. She speaks up for herself and her friends. She is kind and caring and always watches out for anyone she thinks needs a helping hand. Clarissa recently completed her education at Dreher High School. She plans to work as a volunteer with dogs to build her skills for future employment.

How Can You Help?

It costs 4 Paws between $40,000-$60,000 to raise, train, and place a service dog. Our family has to raise $17,000 of that to pay for a service dog.

Donations by check in support of Clarissa Ferry should be made directly to 4 Paws for Ability – be sure to write Clarissa Ferry on the memo line.
