Dreamer Claire Grondz

Claire is a witty 5th grader with Autism who loves to bring her creative ideas alive through animation. She has always had a passion for animals and nature. She comes alive in the presence of animals. When Claire was in 2nd grade, could not read. Her teacher suggested we take her to the “Read to Dogs” program at the library. She was instantly motivated and gained the confidence she needed to learn to read. Now she reads at grade level.

Autism looks different in girls. Unfortunately, many misdiagnosed years have gone by and Claire has missed out on the supports she needed. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental condition that is marked by social and communication difficulties and inflexible patterns of behavior.

We want Claire to live her life to the fullest potential. Claire has been approved for an Autism Service Dog through 4 Paws for Ability. Her dog will be trained to assist Claire, including harmful behavior disruption, alerting of potentially dangerous situations, calming, sleep improvement, self-esteem improvement and act as a bridge to social interactions.

How Can You Help?

It costs 4 Paws between $40,000-$60,000 to raise, train, and place a service dog. Our family has to raise $17,000 of that to pay for a service dog.
