Carter Cook

photo (1)Let me introduce you to Carter. He is an amazing, creative and loving 10 year old. He loves science, sports and animals. Most people don’t know how he struggles with daily life expectations. He looks like every other kid so people expect him to act like one too. But life is different for him. As parents we are trying to provide the best possible path for Carter. Carter has sensory processing disorder, anxiety disorder with obsessive compulsive traits and ADHD. If you need more information on these disorders, please ask us.

We have decided to volunteer for 4 Paws For Ability, Inc. to raise money to support its mission. 4 Paws For Ability will raise and train a service dog to help Carter. This service dog will be trained specifically for Carter’s needs, helping with sensory integration, transitions, and building social relationships. The service dog can also help encourage activities of daily living like brushing teeth, bathing and grooming independently. The service dog can aid in calming Carter’s anxiety and providing companionship so he is able to fall asleep at night. Our goal is to provide less stress at school and home, reducing Carter’s meltdowns and anxiety. It is crucial that Carter learn to become independent and self-sufficient as this process is the key to Carter’s success in life.

A service dog can make a positive impact on the rest of Carter’s life that no amount of therapy is able to.

Please join us in raising money to support 4 Paws For Ability, Inc. We look forward to having a loving and unconditional companion to help Carter, but before we can start training with a dog we must raise $14,000, which is about half of what it costs the agency to raise and train one of these special canines. We understand that there are many places to put your money. If you can help us with a tax-deductible donation, please visit 4 Paws Donation Page or mail a check with Carter’s name on the memo line to:
