Tyler is our little boy who was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (half of a heart!). To date he has undergone 3 open heart surgeries, and also lives every day with epilepsy, autism, and mild cerebral palsy. He is a true warrior and the most positive, joyful person we know.
Our family is excited to announce that Tyler has been approved for a multipurpose service dog from 4 Paws for Ability! This amazing dog will be able to help Tyler in so many ways. The dog will be able to alert us when he is having seizures, which is a common occurrence. It will also carry his oxygen tanks and seizure rescue medications so that he can gain independence and be an active kid as much as possible. Last, but not least, a service dog will be a companion for him during his frequent hospital visits.
It costs over $40,000 to specialty train a service dog for Tyler’s exact needs, and so our family is reaching out to ask our wonderful friends, families, and community to help us reach our goal of bringing his service dog home. Our family will cover a portion of this cost, $17,000, to secure a service dog for Tyler. We are excited to have Team Tyler join with 4 Paws for Ability and have a multipurpose service dog be a part of our family.
